In 1525, after the peasants’ uprising, the so called “12 articles of the peasants‘ constitution”
were enacted in Memmingen. The “Memmingen award of liberty” in 2009 and the accompanying art
exhibition referred to that historic event.
Peter Heel and Agnes Keil took part with a photographic study of liberty in reference to those
twelve articles. The photographic work analyses social and artistic conventions and visual habits.
