PETER HEEL

I work with disposed of objects, discarded by society, left unnoticed, but also with objects which I pull out of society.
These objects are transformed and placed into new contexts.
Here art historians find the principles of collage from the 20th century: with the objects found, one puts together something new, a development in which Picasso, Braque, Duchamp, Schwitters and the Dadaists in Germany were significantly involved.
It was the Dadaists, who for the first time didn’t occupy themselves predominantly with the aesthetical problem of shape and space, but who focused on the relationship between art and life.
As opposed to Dadaism, however, my pieces of furniture aren´t anti-art, their aim isn´t to provoke, but to stimulate the joy of discovery.
